Drew has some deciding to do

To say that Larry Drew is a priority recruit for the Wildcats would be an understatement. The 2008 point guard is one of two players the Cats are really pursuing to run the show. Drew was in town over the weekend and stuck around an extra day to make an unofficial visit with his mother.

Drew was not the only player making an unofficial. He was joined on Monday by Brandon Jennings and James Rahon. He has known both players for some time and all three spent much of the day together.

After spending the day weekend in Tucson playing in the Cactus Classic he spent another day in town to ensure he got to meet with the staff and check out everything. The visit was described as "great" and now comes the hard part, deciding on a school.

According to Drew it is now a two-team race between the Wildcats and North Carolina.

"I'd like to discuss everything with my family," Drew said of his post visit plans. His mother accompanied him on the visit, but his father did not make the trip.

"I'd like to go home and talk it over with him, my mom and everybody," Drew explained.

The four-star point guard can't wait to finally settle on a school as he does feel the weight of his recruitment.

"I can't wait to make my decision," Drew said. "That's going to take a lot of pressure off me."

Drew admitted that everyone in his family has a different favorite and opinion on where they want him to go. Although opinions differ, in the end Drew will make the call.

"It is my decision," Drew said. "They support me 100% anyways."

Drew is playing for the Pump N Run Elite team that features a ton of D-I talent, most of whom are younger. Guys like Travis Wear, David Wear and Reeves Nelson are all considering Arizona and North Carolina.

"I'd love to see some of the guys come and spend a couple of years together," Drew said.

Playing with the Pump team, Drew is used to facing top competition week in and week out and he loves it. Although he is currently Scout.com's fourth best point guard, Drew still feels something to prove.

"I always try to go out there and play hard to keep up my reputation," Drew said.

We'll have more with Drew and the specifics on his visit over the next few days.
