Softball advances to finals

Arizona needed to win two games to keep their hopes of a repeat national title alive. They did just that, taking a pair from Washington.

The Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to down Washington 2-0 in the opening game. That win forced an elimination game later in the evening.

Thanks to a Jenae Leles two-run double the Cats took a first run lead and never looked back. Four more runs in the sixth iced things and Arizona cruised to a 8-1 win over the Huskies.

The two wins allows the Cats to advance to the best-of-three championship series against Tennessee. The Volunteers beat Arizona 1-0 on Friday night and have not lost yet in the event.

The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Tucson time and will be shown on ESPN.
