Cats force final game

Arizona has played well all postseason with their backs against the wall. They continued that trend in their 1-0 extra innings win over Tennessee.

The win forces a final, winner take all, third game on Wednesday night.

Monica Abbott and Taryne Mowatt dueled for nine shutout innings, before the Wildcats got on the board in the top of the tenth.

Sam Banister singled and moved to second before being lifted for pinch-runner Danielle Rodriguez. A Tennessee error allowed Rodriguez to go to third and Calista Balko safe at first.

Rodriguez was off on contact on an Adrienne Acton slap hit to third. The Wildcat pinch-runner slid wide of the plate and got her hand on the plate before the catcher could make the tag.

Mowatt, who was pitching her seventh game in six days, was nails in the 10th. She survived a one-out error by shortstop Kristie Fox and finished out the inning.

The Wildcat pitcher had a blister on her index finger but described it after the game as "not that bad." She had to work out of numerous jams, including a bases loaded, no-out fifth inning.

All told Tennessee stranded 14 runners.
