Backer wraps up recruiting

Arizona's recruiting momentum continued on Monday as they added their 12th known verbal commitment. This time a three-star linebacker has chosen the Wildcats.

Zander Fabbri of Bakersfield Centennial High School visited Arizona last week and left saying that he was 90% certain he'd commit. That percentage became 100% on Monday afternoon.

"I committed a little while ago to Coach (Joe) Robinson," Fabbri said. "Coach JoeRob was real excited and he was real happy that I am a Wildcat. I talked to (Mike) Stoops and (Tim) Kish too and they were both really excited."

Although Fabbri thought about committing on his visit, he felt it was best to go home and talk things over wit his family and support system.

"I got home from my visit last week and I talked to my grandparents and they really thought Arizona was good for me," Fabbri explained. " I also talked to my coaches again and they thought Arizona was the right place for me too."

Although he took his time, he really didn't need to. He was pretty much a Wildcat the minute he stepped on campus.

"I knew on the first day I was there that I wanted to go to Arizona," he said. "My mind was made up on that day. I know my parents mind was pretty much made up too we all had a really great time and loved everything about Arizona."

The three-star player is rated as the 25th best middle linebacker by and that is exactly where he will begin his Arizona career.

"They want me for the MIKE spot and that is what I prefer to play but I will play anywhere," Fabbri said. "They said there was a chance I could end up at WILL if it made sense but I will start at MIKE."

Anytime a player verbals before the end of the summer you have to ask just how firm the commitment is. Fabbri is hot shy in his claims.

"I am 100% committed and I am a Wildcat!"
