Wildcat Insider Pac-10 Poll

There were some big winners and big losers in this week's fan poll. While Cal made believers out of many when they whipped up on SEC conference powerhouse Tennessee, the jury still remains out on the Bears' prospects of being the leader of the Pac. As for Arizona, a tough way to start the season got tougher when they plummeted in the courtroom of public opinion – the Wildcat Insider Fan Poll.

TEAM (first place votes),record, points

USC (19) 1-0, 217

California (3) 1-0, 197

UCLA 1-0, 179

Arizona State 1-0, 130

Oregon State 1-0, 129

Oregon 1-0, 118

Washington 1-0, 92

Washington State 0-1, 65

Arizona 0-1, 59

Stanford 0-1, 24

California gained some ground in picking up three first place votes after disposing of Tennessee in their first game of the season.  Still, the Bears' big win combined with USC's lackluster performance against Idaho wasn't enough to unseat the top ranked Trojans who received the other 19 first place votes.

UCLA held steady at three.  The Bruins were followed by the biggest mover of the week, Arizona State, who leapfrogged the Oregon State, Oregon and Arizona in working their way up to the number four spot.

Oregon State each dropped one spot each and check in this week at five (OSU) and six.

The two Washington schools move up to claim the number seven and eight slots while the Arizona Wildcats were anything but ‘wild' last Saturday in a disappointing loss to MWC contender BYU.

Arizona fell four sports, from number six to number nine while Stanford remained at the bottom of the proverbial Napa Valley Wine Cellar.
