On the close game: Arizona coach John Mackovic:

"We're disappointed to say the least. We're not discouraged. We didn't play well enough to win tonight, but we will."

"We put in a lot of work getting ready for this. Oregon is a well-coached team and made very few errors. They wore us down in the second half."

"When you play these kind of games you have to play as error free as you can."

"We had a lot of players injured. We don't have the experience to replace these players."

"We made a lot of strides forward. We played toe-to-toe. We really felt we could win this game."

Arizona CB Gary Love:

"We made a lot of mistakes. Our mistakes cost us. They made less mistakes and won."

"This game is over. It is good to build on, but it is just the first conference game and we have other games left to play."

Oregon RB Onterrio Smith:

"I feel really good about the win, but I have to give most of the credit to the rest of the offense. It's great what happens when everybody does their part."

"It is really big for us to start out conference play with a win."

Oregon QB Jason Fife:

"I couldn't get my rhythm going until the second quarter. It wasn't until the second half where we really put it together."

"Everything is falling together really well. Onterrio Smith opened up our play-action pass on the first scoring drive. It's the little things that are making a big difference in getting our games started."

Oregon coach Mike Belloti:

"I give Arizona credit, they played an inspired football game."

"Bobby Wade is a great receiver. He's going to make people miss him and catch his passes. We mixed up the coverage and they didn't threaten other than one time in the second half."
