Week 3 saw teams like USC and Florida reassure their fans that they're national title contenders. It also reminded fans of other teams like UCLA and Nebraska that contending for a national title might still be at least a year away.

USC powered past Nebraska in Lincoln and in the process, strengthened their hold on the top spot in this week's poll.  Comfortably in second place are the Tigers from LSU who have had an easy time of things despite playing a respectable slate of early season games.

 

Florida's dominance of Tennessee was good enough for voters to slot them ahead of Oklahoma, but only by a mere two points.

 

West Virginia is in the five spot.  They are followed by California, Ohio State and Texas.

 

Wisconsin and Penn State round out the top 10.

 

Oregon is off to an impressive 3-0 start to the season and enters the week at #11.  They are followed closely by Rutgers, Boston College, South Carolina and Clemson.

 

Nick Saban's Crimson Tide checks into this week's poll at #16, just 11 votes ahead of Hawaii.  Texas A&M is ranked #18 and is followed by Blue Grass rivals Kentucky and Louisville.

 

Virginia Tech, Gerogia, South Florida, Arizona State and Nebraska close are all also ranked.
