Tipoti Back from Tucson

The Arizona Wildcat victory over the then second ranked Oregon Ducks means a lot to the program. The win means the Wildcats are now just one win away from being bowl eligible and it could also mean a ton in the recruiting game. The Cats hosted seven prospects on official visits and it could be a huge next couple of weeks for the Cats in the recruiting trail.

One of the seven in town for the Oregon upset was Honolulu (HI) Pac-Five Institute defensive tackle Aaron Tipoti. Tipoti was in town and was hosted by Wildcat freshmen Bryson Beirne and Lolomana Mikaele.

"I knew both of them before so it made it easy," Aaron said. "They showed me a good time for sure. I wanted to get a lot out of the visit and I definitely did that. I really like all of the Polys they have there. We hung out a lot and I got to know the ones I didn't know already. The game was great and it was a great atmosphere. It was great to see them overcome Oregon, who was a really good team. To witness it first hand meant a lot. I liked the way the coaches were coaching and the players never gave up."

Being from the Islands that means that Tipoti is being recruited by Arizona ace Islands recruiter Mike Tuiasosopo. According to Aaron, the two get along really well and he could easily see himself playing for the Wildcat defensive tackles coach.

"Coach Tui is a great guy," said Tipoti. "He is down to earth and he always tells the truth. I like all of the coaches there. They are real there, they aren't fakes. They are not playing games with me and I like that about them all. I could absolutely see myself playing for Coach Tuiasosopo and all of the coaches there."

One of the things that Aaron likes about Arizona is the possibility to play early if he were to become a Wildcat. He has done his own research and seen what opportunities he might have in Tucson.

"In looking at the depth chart they lose a couple of guys," he commented. "That means I could maybe go in and start or at least play as a freshman. I would like the chance to play early and it is definitely possible there."

Tipoti has said that he wants to make a decision by early January. He says that Arizona is definitely near the top of his list and that he still wants to take another visit or two.

"Arizona is definitely in my top five for real," he said. "I am thinking about visiting San Diego State next but that probably won't be until after the all star game that I am playing in next month. I like Arizona, San Diego State, Arizona State, Cal and UCLA so that would be my top five."
