JC recruit to Arizona

Arizona has added a player to the 2008 class. A junior college defensive back signed his financial aid papers, committing to play football in Tucson next fall.

Compton College FS Anthony Wilcox committed to Arizona on Weds. and join the team this fall. He sent in his financial aid papers, which ensures he has a scholarship next fall.

Players are unable to sign LOI's after the first week in April. I am planning to come in and start," Wilcox said.

He had high praise for the coaches and wants to be part of building a "championship winning team."

"I like the coaches a lot," Wilcox added.

Mike Tuiasasopo was the lead recruiter for Wilcox.

He has three years to play three but expects to earn his AA degree in July.

"My last day of class is July 14th," Wilcox explained. "After than I am good and can come to Arizona and start working out."

Wilcox drew high praise from Compton CC coach Jason Brown.

"He's been heavily touted," boasted Brown. "Coach Mike Stoops was pleased as punch. He was very happy to have him sign."

Wilcox led Tartars with 70 tackles and four interceptions this past season.
