Cats poised to add RB to 08 class

With all of the uncertainty at running back next season the Wildcat coaches never quit looking to add a third runner to the class of 2008. They appear to have done just that as a junior college running back made a verbal pledge to join the program.

College of DuPage running back Nick Booth verbally committed to the Wildcat program and signed scholarship papers with the program. The papers do not bind Booth to the school, but do ensure that he has a scholarship in place.

Booth rushed for over 1,000 yards last season and considers himself a combo back, one who can go between the tackles and has "homerun hitter" speed.

He visited Arizona prior to the Memorial Day weekend and liked what he saw.

""It was a great fit," Booth said of his decision to commit.

He was also receiving interest from Kansas State, Illinois, Minnesota and Miami of Ohio.

He was recruited by offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh and met extensively on his visit with running backs coach Dana Dimel.

Herman Hall was his host and the fact that the junior offensive lineman also went the JC route was a bonding point for he and Booth.

Booth did not qualify out of high school and attended the College of DuPage. The Wildcats got into the picture about four weeks ago.

Booth said he plans on getting back to Tucson in the next few weeks and joining the off-season workout program.
