Elite Camp: Prospect Evaluations
Arizona's Elite Camp is now completed and it was generally a success. We had an opportunity to view the many players in attendance and it was obvious who the UA should be going after.
Andy Brown: It looks as if Arizona will go after Brown in order to secure a commitment and we have mixed feeling. Brown has some potential but considering how well the UA has started its class, we feel he does not fit in. He is not strong enough to guard the power forward position and the Wildcats need a true power forward rather than a player that is in between a small and power forward.
Tyler Lamb: Lamb was easily the best player in attendance and Arizona needs to and will put the full court press on him. He still needs to work on his jump shooting but he easily has the most potential we saw at the camp. Olson took special notice and made sure Lamb was the volunteer in each of the drills. He is very good at getting to the basket and strong defensively as well.
Anthony Stover: Stover is not going to be able to contribute right away but the UA really has no choice in recruiting him. If there were other options it is possible Arizona may be tempted to look else where but there is a reason why the Wildcats are recruiting him. Offensively he has work to do but if you play a zone defense and put him in the middle, we can definitely see him dominating the paint.
Anthony Brown: Brown was one of our favorite players in attendance because he has fantastic athleticism but it is not the only part of his game. We like how Brown has smooth form on his jumper, whether he can hit it consistently or not. He looks as if he is still growing and has a perfect basketball frame. After this weekend we feel that Arizona better start recruiting him hard because the rest of the country is about to follow.
Terrell Stoglin: From what we hear, Stoglin has not looked better in quite some time. We still do not see him as a high major guy but Arizona needs to recruit him just in case. If he grows three inches, he becomes a much more intriguing player, but for now he is simply a guy to keep an eye on.
Avery Johnson: Johnson is intriguing because he already realizes the importance of the mid range jumper, He was one of the more consistent shooters in attendance and we like his potential. We did not see a ton of athleticism from him but he emerged as somebody that the UA should definitely keep its eyes on.
