Here are some notables to keep an eye on with Toledo:

  • Of the 24 starters on last season's roster, 15 are back this year, including six on offense, eight on defense and the kicker.

  • This will be the second meeting between Toledo and Arizona. The only other time both teams faced each other was in 1985, a game in which Arizona won. This will be the first of three scheduled games with the other coming in 2010 in Toledo and 2012 at Arizona.

  • To the NFL: Toledo needs to replace players at three key positions that have been vacated by players now in the NFL. These players include:OL John Greco (third round-St.Louis Rams), RB Jalen Parmele (sixth round-Miami Dolphins) and punter Brett Kern (free agent-Denver Broncos.

  • Junior safety Barry Church is one of the most underrated players in the country. He has made first-team All-MAC in each of the last two seasons. In addition, he was third on the team and tied for 18thin the MAC with 92 tackles in 2007, and tied for team lead with three interceptions.

  • Special teams: Sophomore placekicker Alex Steigerwald was a perfect 13-of-13 in his field-goal attempts in 2007, the only kicker in the FBS (Division I-A) with at least 10 field-goal attempts to have a perfect mark.
