Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops had an opportunity to meet with the press earlier in the week and, like just about everybody, had plenty to say about the impressive 70-0 win over Idaho.
"I don't think we expected that but we were happy with how our guys played throughout camp, so it was encouraging," he said.
one of the more encouraging aspects of the game was the fact that there was little drop off once the starters were taken out.
"That really surprised me and it was very encouraging," he said. "All of our twos played exceptionally well."
Stoops credited the effort with the fact that the coaching staff worked harder than ever on making sure there was enough depth.
"We worked harder in camp this year to let our twos play more and get more and more experience," he said. "I think that paid off for us and we are excited about our talent."
With the Toledo game coming up, Arizona is reminded of the embarrassing loss to New Mexico last season.
"It definitely sits in our minds," Stoops said. "We want to work very hard to not let that happen again. We respect everybody we play and ultimately it comes down to guys going out there and making plays."
With that being said, Stoops knows that Toledo will be a similar match up.
"I think Toledo is a little like us," he said. "They are not as pass happy and are not going to chuck it around as much, but they spread it out and present some problems. They are well coached and we will have our hands full."
