Arizona picked up one of its prime 2009 targets in 5-foot-10, 230 lb. Oro Valley (Ariz.) Ironwood Ridge linebacker Jake Fischer.
According to sources, Fischer committed to the Wildcats just before their game with Toledo.
Fischer was a big recruit for the U of A after completing 133 tackles as a junior, while getting named all-region and all-Southern Arizona. As a sophomore, he recorded 132 tackles with a sack and an interception.
Also holding offers from Colorado and Utah, Fischer never had a set timetable for when he was going to commit, but always told us that he would do it when he felt comfortable.
That was obviously Saturday, as the Wildcats took another big step towards having a successful 2009 recruiting class.
Fischer gives the U of A three 2009 linebacker commits, joining Trevor Erno and Taniela Maka.
