Gaddy commitment huge

I'll be the first to admit it: I've doubted a lot of the recruiting moves that Lute Olson has made lately.

I'll be the first to admit it: I've doubted a lot of the recruiting moves that Lute Olson has made lately.

  • I didn't understand offering and accepting a commitment from Reger Dowell.

  • I didn't understand not informing Abdul Gaddy of that decision beforehand.

  • I didn't understand not calling Gaddy for three weeks after the U of A staff changes.

  • I didn't understand why Olson offered Keegan Hornbuckle.

  • I didn't understand the lack of big man recruiting.

But for all of my doubts, the biggest one of all has been proven wrong:

  • I didn't think Lute Olson would be able to re-land Gaddy once he decommitted.

Once again, Olson has proven the doubters wrong, and this one couldn't have come at a better time.

With Gaddy's commitment, the Wildcats are back to building a top five class for the second consecutive year, although hopefully the U of A will hold on to its top five class this year.

Gaddy's commitment will help the Wildcats' recruiting efforts in finishing off the class, namely in landing players such as Anthony Stover and Angus Brandt, two big men that Arizona desperately needs.

It will also help keep any commits from thinking twice. Not to mention that it will settle the Arizona fan base and allow the coaches to point to Gaddy's commitment as a sign of high level recruits seeing stability in the program.

Lute Olson has done it again and the impact of Gaddy's commitment will be felt for quite some time.
