There have been some good things happening around the U of A basketball program lately. Here is the latest news from inside McKale.

  • It sounds as if Anthony Stover had a terrific visit to Arizona this weekend and the Wildcats are now the favorite to land him. Stover seems to be down to Arizona and UCLA and will visit the Bruins this weekend.

From what we're hearing, UCLA would have to make a huge comeback in order to land him. It is possible but the Wildcats are definitely in the driver's seat here.

Arizona State, a one-time favorite for Stover, doesn't seem to be very much in the mix anymore.

  • Arizona is still in the running for Angus Brandt, who is the only other true post option for the Wildcats. The staff would love to land both prospects.

  • Andy Brown is still down to Arizona and Stanford and planning a visit to both schools in the coming weeks. He hasn't qualified for Stanford yet and if he doesn't then it is a done deal for the Wildcats.

  • Chase Budinger has been outstanding in pickup and practice situations and people around the program are optimistic that he's set for an All-American type season.

  • The two possible starting lineups right now are as follows:

    PG: Nic Wise
    SG: Brendon Lavender
    SF: Chase Budinger
    PF: Jordan Hill
    C: Jeff Withey

    PG: Nic Wise
    SG: Chase Budinger
    SF: Jamelle Horne

Fendi Onobun will likely round out the seven man rotation, unless someone else steps up.
