Basketball Notebook

Some notes from around the Arizona Basketball program, including what we're hearing on Anthony Stover and Andy Brown, as well as info from inside recent U of A practices.

Some notes from around the Arizona Basketball program:
  • Andy Brown arrives today for an official visit. Brown is down to Arizona and Stanford and the rumor is that he will go to Stanford as long as he gets accepted. If not he will be a Wildcat.

  • Arizona is still awaiting word on Anthony Stover. The rumor there is that Stover wants to go to Arizona but some people very close to him won't let him pull the trigger, as they want him at UCLA.

Stover's decision could come at any time, but the delay is hurting Arizona, where he still wants to go. It depends on whether Stover gets his way or those close to him push him to UCLA.

  • The backlash from Lute Olson's Reger Dowell decision was minimal. People complained about it for a day and now no one is saying anything. Big surprise and go figure.

  • Word from practice is that Zane Johnson, Garland Judkins and Kyle Fogg have all been inconsistent at best. That leaves Brendon Lavender as the last man standing at shooting guard, unless one of the other guys really step it up.

  • Despite that, it wouldn't be a surprise if Jamelle Horne remains a starter, as it seems there is concern about how he would handle coming off the bench.

  • Jordan Hill, Nic Wise and Chase Budinger have all been very good in practice, as expected.
