In addition to talking about the loss against Stanford, Mike Stoops also talked about the upcoming game against Cal when he met with the media.
Stoops is completely aware that Cal may actually be the best running team that the Wildcats face all season.
"They like to run the football, so we are going to have to find a way to defend the run a little bit better," he said. "I am sure they are going to try to control the clock and they are going to do what they do.
"They are a very talented team and very skilled across the board. They have great team and speed and are well coached. It will be a tough assignment but hopefully coming home will give us a lot of incentive and we have a lot to play for."
The major strength of the run game is that it keeps opponents off balance, as the Golden Bears use it in many different ways.
"You have to look at Best and Vereen," Stoops said. "Their two backs are exceptional players, very fast and physical up front. Their run game is like anybody. It keeps you off balance. Controlling the line of scrimmage is critical and your ability to run the football really helps."
Although Cal will be tough, Stoops believes that Arizona will compete because it is getting better.
"You see our team getting better and better," he said. "We are much more consistent than we have been. We have not been drastically off in these six games and they are always going to be harder on the road. I think we can play better, will play better, and hopefully coming home will gives us that little extra momentum that we need."
Arizona fully prepared for Cal
