Recruiting picking up

It's been a good few days for the Arizona football team's recruiting efforts. Here's an update on the latest going-ons inside the U of A program.

  • First off, on Sunday Arizona received a commitment from 6-1, 200 pound cornerback Marcus Benjamin from Arizona Western C.C. in Yuma. Benjamin chose Arizona over Arizona State following his official visit to the U of A.

Benjamin is considered a two-star prospect but was one of the Wildcats' priority recruits at the cornerback position. He's definitely considered a good addition to the program.

  • Next up is Chris Putton, a 6-5, 260 pound offensive tackle from Cactus High School in Glendale. Putton was close to an ASU offer but didn't want to wait anymore and chose the Wildcats.

Putton was another priority recruit for the Wildcats and could be a big part of the team's future at offensive tackle.

  • More good news comes from 5-10, 180 pound running back Daniel Jenkins, who plays at Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, California. Jenkins is expected to commit to the Wildcats this weekend during his official visit.

  • Another official visitor from Rancho Verde will be 6-4, 210 pound tight end Terrence Miller, who also plans on committing this weekend.

  • Two other official visitors this past weekend were 5-10, 170 pound cornerback Demontre Hurst and 6-1, 195-pound linebacker Cordarius Golston, both from Lancaster High School in Texas. Both had great visits but aren't close to making a decision.

  • Also in town for unofficials this past weekend were Adam Hall and Jake Fischer.

  • Expected this weekend on officials will be Hawaiian running back Dalton Hilliard and Utah defensive tackle Latu Heimuli.
