Volleyball advances in NCAA's

The Arizona volleyball team advance to their fourth straight Sweet Sixteen after rallying to down Texas in a five-game struggle. The Cats came back from a 2-1 disadvantage to beat the Longhorns.

The Wildcats won by game scores of 30-25, 25-30, 18-30, 30-22, 15-9.

Kim Glass had 26 kills to lead all players. The freshman totaled a hitting percentage of .258 and contributed eight digs.

Laurie Gardner paced the Wildcat offense by dishing out 54 assists. She would add four kills of her own.

Game four was the pivitol game. The Wildcats faced elimination but after both teams went back and forth, the Wildcats pulled away to win the game. Arizona hit .306 as a team in game four and a whopping .571 in the fifth and final game. The Wildcats committed zero hitting errors in the decisive fifth game.

The Wildcats advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight year and the sixth time under head coach David Rubio. The Wildcats' record improves to 19-11. Arizona faces Minnesota next at a site to be determined.
