Stoops meets with media

Arizona head coach Mike Stoops met with the media on Monday and down played the fact that the Wildcats are heavy favorites

Arizona head coach Mike Stoops met with the media on Monday and proceeded to down play the fact that the UA is favorites.

In addition, a win on Saturday would make the Wildcats bowl eligible, something that Stoops is not paying much attention to.

"We won six games two years ago and it did not do anything for us," he said. "We are just taking it one game at a time.

"Trying to move forward with our program I think is the biggest hurdle in front of us and that is being good enough to go on the road and win a game you are supposed to win. What is relevant to our players is putting in the preparation to win this game."

Although Arizona is the favorite, Stoops believes that the UA is not going to overlook Washington State.

"I don't know if we have ever been this type of favorite on the road against anybody," he said. "On the road is always challenging to some aspect but I think you see a team that is pretty mature in our approach, so I like what our kids are doing.

"I don't think they are going to not prepare like they have all year. That would be foolish of them."

One thing that the coaching staff will not be doing is putting any added pressure on the squad.

"It does no good," Stoops said. "It really doesn't. If you win enough games you go to a bowl. Everybody knows that. I don't need to tell them that. They can add. When it is all said and done and you play your 12 games you end up where you are supposed to end up."
