Cats swept in Elite 8

The Stanford Cardinal advanced to the Final Four by sweeping the Wildcats 3-0 at the Maples Pavilion. The young Wildcats came up a victory short of advancing to their second straight national semi-final. The Cardinal were dominant in all facets of the game, out hitting the Wildcats .370 to .046.

Stanford was led by senior All-American Logan Tom who had 1 kills, including the final point of the night. The 15th kill gave Tom the Stanford career kill record with 1,912.

The Cardinal won by scores of 30-14, 30-17 and 30-25 and will face the winner the Hawaii/Nebraska game in New Orleans.

Kim Glass who was so good for the Wildcats all year had just 10 kills and hit .029. Lisa Rutledge and Shannon Torregrosa hit -.034 and -.167 respectively.

Torregrosa, who usually plays in the middle, moved to outside hitter to start the contest but struggled and moved back inside late in the contest.
