Arizona struggled a bit without Jordan Hill, but here are some notes on Monday's win.

  • It is obvious how much Arizona needs Jordan Hill. However, the decision to hold him out was a good one. Russ Pennell and company were aware that the UA could probably win without him, thus the decision is easy because it is necessary that he is healthy for the conference season.

  • Alex Jacobson is starting to impress people with the fact that he is much better than most thought he would be. There were not high expectations for him, but he has come in and been effective. Like we have said numerous times, he is not going to dominate games. However, he is going to help Arizona in a way that may not truly be recognized until the end of the season.

  • Nic Wise played his best game of the season because he seemed to be patient. Wise definitely has talent, but he needs to be patient in order to utilize it. He found his teammates, did not force any shots, and was aggressive to the basket. Wise is at his ebst when he is pushing the pace and putting his defender on his back, which he did well on Monday.

  • Chase may not have had that great of a game, but it was good enough. He got to the line at a great rate and his shot falling is something that will come with time. Eventually Budinger will get out of his funk and obviously the Wildcats will be much better for it.

  • Arizona needs much more consistency from Jamelle Horne. For every step forward he takes two steps back. Arizona is going to need Horne to play better if it wants to be successful but to ask him to be consistent looks like it could be too much at this point.
