Arizona had one of its better offensive performances in recent memory on Thursday, as the Wildcats defeated Washington 106-97 at McKale.
"Tonight was an exciting game," Arizona coach Russ Pennell said. "We played really well. There were a few mistakes, but we were able to overcome them. We didn't panic when Jordan (Hill) fouled out. Everyone else stepped up and took ownership. Whenever you make 41 free throws you know you're going to have a good night."
With the UA scoring in triple digits and almost letting them up as well, Pennell credits the offensive performance for the win.
"Jordan (Hill) played well tonight, in spite of his foul trouble," he said. "He really gave us a lot of energy during the first half.
"Nic (Wise) is being more aggressive on offense, and Chase (Budinger) is finally finding his rhythm. He isn't hesitating when he takes his shots. He looked very comfortable tonight."
In addition, Kyle Fogg played solid defense on Isaiah Thomas and he attributes it to an increase in confidence.
"My confidence is getting higher and my teammates are trusting me more," Fogg said. "They tell me to shoot more and that's what I do. Whenever I get an open shot I put it up and try to knock it down.
"I know there's going to be pressure on you all the time so I know what to expect. It's a battle and you have to come ready to play. Now I'm ready. In the beginning I was nervous every game, but now I'm confident."
Pennell agreed with Fogg's assessment that he has been playing with more confidence.
"Kyle really stepped up tonight," Pennell said. "He was more willing to handle the ball against pressure and he is getting better at free throws. He doesn't play like he is a freshman anymore. He is very easy to coach and he is good at taking suggestions. Kyle doesn't try to do things that he can't do."
Arizona will look at the sweep against Washington State on Saturday.
