ASU head coach Herb Sendek is aware that the UA is playing some of the best basketball in the entire country.

"They are playing as well as anybody in our conference and as well as anyone in the country," he said. "They are hitting on all cylinders. They are a very good basketball team."

The UA has made a major move in the conference in the past month or so and Sendek says that he is not surprised the conference race is now close.

"I can't remember the last year in any conference that I've been a part of that a conference hasn't gone into the last few weeks where a few games hadn't separated teams," he said. "I don't think it is uncommon. Anybody can beat the next guy."

One part of the rivalry that is usually not a question is motivation, but Sendek says that there is only so much he can do.

"What could we do to put more emphasis on it?" asked Sendek, "What can you do to make it more special? It isn't possible, because we use all we have in every game. When you try your best and you care so much, how do you give more than all?"

Jeff pendergraph knows that giving it his all is exactly what he needs to do, as the Wildcats have been playing very well.

"Expectations weren't that high this year with Coach Olson leaving and guys leaving," said Pendergraph.

"Coach Pennell got them all together. The guys that are still there are guys you want there. Coach Pennell is a real good coach and a great guy."
