How long will it take UA to be good again?

Arizona fans have had a difficult time enjoying this season due to how tumultuous things have been. With that said, this is the Wildcats' last chance to be competitive in quite some time, due to the significant talent depletion U of A will go through following this season.

So, how does Arizona become competitive again? First of all, let's look at what the team has next season, in terms of players who can possibly help the Wildcats win games.

PG: Nic Wise
SG: Kyle Fogg
SF:
PF: Jamelle Horne
C:

Zane Johnson, Alex Jacobson and Brendon Lavender are fine off the bench, but UA can't count on any of them to compete at a high level. That means the Wildcats absolutely need to find a 2009 small forward and center.

Small forward could be taken care of if the Wildcats can steal Solomon Hill back from USC. Then the roster looks like this:

PG: Nic Wise
SG: Kyle Fogg
SF: Solomon Hill
PF: Jamelle Horne
C:

(Are you any more angry at Jeff Withey yet?)

Not too bad actually. But the Wildcats must find a center, or at least another power forward, to man the middle. Technically you could throw in Jacobson, but he would foul out way too fast and just isn't good enough.

But as you see, Arizona isn't that far away from being competitive. It will just depend on who the next coach can bring in right away.
