How bad can it get?

Arizona has been turned down once again and now the question is whether or not the Wildcats can stop the bleeding.

Unfortunately things have gotten so bad for the program that is was definitely not a surprise when Xavier head coach Sean Miller turned down the job. If Tim Floyd could turn it down without getting a raise, then we should have a pretty good idea about the state of the program.

Now Arizona is struggling and the media criticism of athletic director Jim Livengood is beginning to pick up steam, as well it should. He can't make the wrong hire, knows he can't, but still looks like he will.

At this point, there seems to be one realistic hire than he can defend and that is Josh Pastner. However, Pastner has not been contacted for the job and we would be surprised if he is.

Many sources say that the top candidate is Utah coach Jim Boylen, which is a bit depressing. No offense to Boylen, but Russ Pennell outcoached him and he has the same pedigree as a guy that Arizona fans certainly have no love for.

If Livengood hires Boylen, nobody is going to care about the press conference let alone believe it has been won. He needs to go out and make a much better hire than Boylen, or at least one he can spin because if he does not he will be going off into the sunset.

Then again, as far as Arizona fans are concerned right now, that may not be such a bad thing.
