Cats land two linemen

Arizona added two more offensive linemen to their 2003 recruiting class. Robert Gustavis and Peter Graniello have both verballed to the Wildcats. Both have very good height, but need to add weight.

Robert Gustavis is a recruit that a lot of people have rated very differently. Some services have the 6-4, 280-pound lineman rated as high as a top-50 lineman, while others have as low as 161st. What can't be denied is that Gustavis has dominated his league for the past few years. He was an All-Area and an All-South Bay selection. As a junior he was 1st team All-State Underclass honors.

"All the players are nice, all the coaches are nice and I can see the future with them having a really good team," Gustavis said when asked why he chose the Wildcats.

Gustavis prefers to play tackle, but with all of the size the Wildcats have recruited the past few seasons, he may be destined to play guard.

Gustavis tripped to Cal and cancelled a visit to Oregon State. He took several other unofficial visits to Pac-10 schools. After a great junior year and a strong showing at the Nike camp he attracted a lot of big time interest, but the offers never materialized.

Joining Gustavis is Peter Graniello. Graniello is a sleeper who wasn't highly recruited. At 6-6, 280, the El Paso native needs to add a lot of bulk and is a likely redshirt candidate.

Graniello earned all-district honors at Coronado High School where he also competes in track and field . He chose Arizona over New Mexico State and UTEP.
