With the Las Vegas AAU tournaments starting this week, here are five things to look out for:

1. James Johnson: Johnson is a national tournament away from being recruited by just about anybody. If he plays well this week, expect his recruitment to take off, making it even more difficult for Arizona to land him.

Of course, Arizona is in great shape, but it will be interesting to see what happens when his school list doubles or triples.

2. The breakout player: We guarantee that there will be at least one new name once this week is over.

Every year there is a player that emerges as a big time player and just when you want to watch him more, the evaluation period ends.

3. Shabazz Muhammad: 2012 is a decent amount of time away, but how do you not watch this kid? He's probably a top ten player in the west regardless of class and it will be interesting to see how much attention the coaching staff puts on him.

Do you focus on the next two years, or do you watch all of his games in order to send the message that he is already a top priority?

Muhammad is surely one of the better players in the country, but coaches have different strategies and it will be intriguing to see who is watching him in action.

4. The young kids: With players like Gabe York and Eric Cooper in action this week, don't be surprised if you hear a lot about the young guys.

The west is not overly talented in 2010, but it definitely picks up in 2011 and 12, so we would not be surprised if by midweek we were more interested in the younger players than the older ones.

5. The coaching staff: With tournaments in Orlando and Kansas City as well, it will be interesting to see which coaches are watching which players.

Sometimes you can tell the higher priority kids by which coach is watching him, but we get the feeling that the UA will likely be spreading the love.
