Game Talk: Arizona 87, UCLA 52

WESTWOOD, CALIF. - It's hard to believe the Wildcats could play as poorly as they did and win by 35, but they did. In a game that saw the Bruins score a season-low 18 first-half points on 25 percent shooting from the field, Arizona extended its 34-18 halftime lead, played all 12 scholarship players and never looked back. The Wildcats might have played down to the competition, at least during the first half, but the players had plenty to say about being 6-0 in the Pac-10 and the sweep of LA.

Luke Walton
On playing a full 40 minute game
"It's something we have to work on, but we still have a good amount of time to get that fixed. Hopefully when we do we'll start playing for 40 minutes."

On the sweep of the LA schools
"First we get our first sweep in
Oregon and now a sweep in LA. It's great."

Jason Gardner
"I don't really think (the win) was easy. They just missed a lot of shots, turned the ball over more and we just made shots."

On the team's sloppy play
"We got the win and I think we are improving on the defensive end. The biggest thing is we have to cut down on the turnovers. This week we come home to play ASU and (travel to)
Kansas, two tough games, but right now our defense is doing well."

On the sweep of LA
"To get a sweep in Oregon and a sweep here is big for me. It's my senior year and my last go around. It's my team and I love the guys so it's a big win for me."

Salim Stoudamire
"We're concerned about (the sloppy play) because we have two good teams coming up. It was tough a couple times out there today. When the other team isn't playing with intensity it's hard to play yourself."

On playing down to the competition
"We've got to reverse that if we want to get to where we want to be."

Channing Frye
"I feel like (UCLA) came out and hit some open shots. I felt like they had a chance to be in the game but they didn't execute on our turnovers that we had. I think we had 20 (turnovers) or something like that."

On the Bruins 4-9 record
"I think they're just going through some things, but they are a legit team regardless of their record. They have a lot of good talent on their team."

On being No. 1
"You know I really don't focus on being No. 1. Personally, I feel like to be a champion you need to feel like your team is No. 1 in the country anyway. I feel like we're stepping up on the boards and the freshman are starting to play like sophomores and juniors and every game we're just trying to get better."
