Steptoe makes his final choice

Back in December Arizona received a verbal commitment from Texas speedster Syndric Steptoe. It was considered a big get for the Wildcats who at the time were unsure of how their recruiting class would be. After his initial verbal, Steptoe backtracked a little bit and decided to make some more visits. On Monday Steptoe made a final decision.

"I made a commitment," Syndric Steptoe said. "It's Arizona. I really liked the players and the coaching staff."

Steptoe is a 5-10, 160-pound DB/WR from Bryan (Bryan HS), Texas. Although most consider him to be a top corner back prospect, Steptoe says he will get his start as a wide receiver at Arizona when he comes out in August. Considering he runs a legit 4.4, Steptoe says that his main asset is his speed.

While it won't be his position in college, this past season he was forced to play quarterback. With no other candidates, the terrific athlete stepped up and led his team under center.

After verballing to Arizona Steptoe visited SMU and Arkansas and despite enjoying both visits, Steptoe realized that he wanted to be a Wildcat.

"I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have any regrets," Steptoe said of his visits.

Steptoe will be an education major, most likely higher education. The future college athlete would not mind running an athletic department.

"I'd like to be an athletic director someday," Steptoe said.
