Thursday's practice was uneventful but there are still some notes coming from camp.

  • Greg Nwoko continues to impress and the amount of carries he gets this season could surprise some people. If Arizona gets within ten yards of the end zone, it is going to be difficult to justify not giving Nwoko the ball.

Since coming to Arizona, he has turned his fat into muscle and may be stronger than when he arrived. Keola Antolin and Nicolas Grigsby may be the primary backs, but Nwoko has the ability to make things interesting.

  • Speaking of Antolin, he should probably be the starter based on performance. He continues to find holes in a strong defensive line and his size allows for better ball fakes with Matt Scott.

Even though Grigsby is likely to start, expect Antolin to probably get 15 carries per game and rightfully so, as he has definitely earned it in camp.

  • Matt Scott probably won the quarterback job on Thursday night, which the coaching staff has to be happy about. He had a fantastic performance and had a great fake and pass to the back of the endzone to find a wide open David Douglas.

Foles, on the other hand, seemed to struggle. He had difficulty finding open receivers and got frustrated to the point where he threw the ball 20 yards out of bounds after being sacked. He obviously has talent, but it was the type of play that Scott likely would have been able to escape from.

  • Dwayne peace continues to impress and it is going to be difficult to redshirt him. From what we have seen, Peace has earned some playing time right away. It remains to be seen what the coaching staff thinks, but Peace definitely has the talent to be successful right away.

  • Rob Gronkowski is still injured, but there seems to be some growing optimism that he will play against Central Michigan. Do not be surprised if he does not practice before the first game, but still sees plenty of action when the season opener comes around.
