Arizona and Oregon State are set to face each other Saturday and both teams seem to be prepared.
"There are a few basic characteristics when you look at Oregon State," Arizona head coach Mike Stoops said. "They play extremely hard and they're well coached. Defensively their defensive coordinator does a very good job, they're very sound, and they make it difficult to move the football consistently.
"They change it up week to week and give you a lot of different looks. Mike (Riley) and his staff do a great job. "
In fact, Riley believes that Arizona is a lot like Oregon State.
"Philosophically they are probably like us, they have a will to run the football, they are going to give the ball to (Nic) Grigsby and they are going to run the ball in the game, that's part of their identity," said Riley. "They've done a nice job of blending what they do in the passing game with a good psychical running game."
Riley had plenty of positive things to say about the UA program as a whole.
"We have a big chore ahead of us," Riley said. "We've seen coach (Mike) Stoops through the years and he's built a very solid program. He's had a defensive system in place that they've just grown into there; it's become their identity.
"They are going to play very aggressive, they're very active, and they are near the top of the conference in total defense. It's going to be a major challenge for us offensively. We're going to have to take major steps forward this week."
Speaking of defense, Arizona knows exactly what it is going to look for when on that side of the ball.
"Defensively for us I think everything revolves around the Rodgers brothers," Stoops said. "You see what they do running the football, you see what they do receiving the football. They kind of do a lot for that football team. They present some very unique challenges.
