News, notes and stats: Cardinal over Cats

The Wildcats suffered their second loss of the season. Dreams of a perfect Pac-10 season are shattered with the upset loss to Stanford. For the Cardinal it keeps their strange trend of playing well against ranked teams alive. The team that lost to Montana and Richmond at home has also beaten Xavier, Florida, Oregon and now No.1 Arizona.

BAD STREAK
Stanford has now won three in a row at McKale. They have not lost in Tucson since dropping an 86-81 decision to the Wildcats back on March 9th, 2000.

STREAKS STOPPED
The Cats hadn't been outrebounded in 10 games. Stanford won the battle of the boards 43-39. The loss also ended a 10-game win streak, the team's longest since an 11-game streak in 2000-01.

BAD LUCK DUDS
Arizona donned new warm ups before the Stanford game. The Cats had been wearing predominantly red warm-ups all season, but wore navy jackets with a big red stripe.

CARDINAL VS. NO.1
With the win, Stanford is now 3-24 against teams ranked No.1. They also beat top-ranked Arizona 82-74 in 1988. They lost 18 games to UCLA when the Bruins were the top-ranked team.

CLASSY MOVE
One-time Arizona recruit Josh Childress made it a point to shake Lute Olson's hand after being introduced by the PA announcer.

SCORING STRUGGLES
At one point in the first half the Wildcats went 5:17 without a field goal. The Cats hit six free throws but were outscored 11-6 during that time.
