Defensive end chooses Arizona

In the past few days the Wildcats have seen a couple of players who gave them verbal commitments change their minds and decide to go elsewhere. Both John Mahaffey and Soloman Smart have decided to play their college football elsewhere. The Cats got one back when a player who committed early in the process changed his mind and decided to become a Wildcat.

Arizona received a verbal commitment from defensive end Ryan Kilpatrick of All Saints' Episcopal School in Fort Worth, TX. Kilpatrick's commitment went under the recruiting radar for a few weeks.

Early on Kilpatrick verballed to TCU, but soon realized that he had made a mistake and re-opened his recruitment.

"I committed early but had a change of heart," Kilpatrick said. "I needed to get out (of the area). I needed to go to a bigger school. I need to find new things and meet new people."

Kilpatrick visited Arizona in early December and made up his mind a few weeks ago. His visit went very well and the 6-4, 225 pounder loved everything about Tucson.

"I fell in love with the place," Kilpatrick said. "It's a great school, great coaches and great people."

Kilpatrick plays at a small school, in fact there are just 68 people in his senior class. This past year he had 19 sacks after registering 14 as a junior. A great athlete, he also played half back, running back, tight end, wide receiver and handled the team's punting chores. He also plays basketball and baseball for All Saints.

He knows he needs to add some size and would be willing to come in and redshirt while he bulks up.
