Wildcats happy to head towards SD

Arizona is set to face Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl.

When one thinks of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, defense is the first thing to come to mind, and rightfully so.

"Certainly everything I've heard, talking to my brother Bob, he just raved about their defense up front, and their defense," Arizona head coach Mike Stoops said. "We know they have an outstanding D. That's the first thing that jumps out at you when you watch them, and that's going to be a huge obstacle for us.

"We're going to have to find ways to move the football, but there's a lot of different ways to attack. We're just really going to have to dissect it over the next 3-4 weeks and just try to come up with a good plan to move the football."

With that being said, Nebraska does not present much that Arizona has not seen before.

"We beat a lot of good teams, and we competed well with the rest," Stoops said. "We played a bunch of different styles of teams.

"I think our defense matches up with a lot of different ways people want to attack you offensively, and that really gives you a chance."

One aspect of the game that is not a question is the level of motivation the Wildcats will have.

"I think our kids were excited about the possibilities of playing in the Holiday Bowl," Stoops said. "That was a big deal for us Saturday, an opportunity to go to San Diego and play a big opponent in a big bowl game was something that was really important to our players.

"They practiced that way all week, and gave us a great effort Saturday. Beating USC was huge, something we've never done. As a program, we've beat everyone in the conference at least twice, except for USC, we'd never beaten them. Those things were motivating for us."
