News, notes and stats: Cats over USC

The Cats have put together two great performances after struggling in Washington. They continue their domination over USC at the McKale Center, winning their 18th straight at home over the Trojans.

PLENTY OF 20
The Wildcats are one of just three schools with 20 wins. They join Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Creighton in that group. Four other teams had a chance to eclipse the 20-win mark on Saturday. College of Charleston, Weber State, Oklahoma State and Troy State all had games after this story was published. It is the 16th consecutive season that the Wildcats have won 20 or more games. It is the longest active streak in the nation.

IN CHANNING WE TRUST
Channing Frye had seven of the Cats' first nine points on his way to a career high 25 points. He also had a season high 14 rebounds.

BEAT LA!
The Cats are 4-0 this season against the LA schools. It is the first sweep of the two since 1992-93.

BLOWOUT CITY
Only two of the last 13 games between Arizona and USC in McKale Center have been decided by less than 10 points.

THE SERIES
It was the 80th game in the series between the two teams. The Cats lead the series 48-32. They have won 18 straight against the Trojans at McKale and eight of the last 12.

STUDENT SECTION
They handed out white headbands to many of the students in attendance. One problem, with the early start a number of current Wildcats were late getting to the game.

THAT'S BETTER
Jason Gardner had as many points (five) in the first 5:27 as he did in the entire game in Los Angeles. Gardner finished with 16 today.

MILESTONE
Jason Gardner, Arizona's career leader in made three pointers, added to his total. His four threes pushed him over the 300 mark to 301.

STRAIGHT SEVENS
Luke Walton had a balanced line. The senior had seven points, seven assists and seven turnovers. He almost had the grand slam, but came up one rebound short with six.

CAREER HIGH
Gregg Guenther of USC had a career high 10 rebounds.

LONG DROUGHT
The Trojans have not beaten a No. 1 ranked team since 1970 when they beat No. 1 UCLA for the second straight season.
