Offensive coordinator update

As the recruiting period comes to a close, there are a lot of questions as to who the new offensive coordinator is going to be.

As the recruiting period comes to a close, there are a lot of questions as to who the new offensive coordinator is going to be.

At this point, the one thing that seems obvious is that Bill Bedenbaugh is going to have a future on Arizona, likely as one of the offensive coordinators.

The big question is whether or not he will be calling plays and what coach he will be joined by.

If Bedenbaugh was going to be joined by somebody already on the staff, you would assume that he would have been named already for the simple purpose of making recruiting easier.

However, it looks as if new blood will be brought in and that is where things get interesting.

We have all heard the same names, ranging from Josh Heupel to Mike Leach. However, it is very unlikely that Arizona is going to hire an offensive coordinator by Signing Day.

Most coaches are not going to abandon their team this late in the game and it is very possible Stoops already has his man.

With that being said, he will likely name a coordinator very soon after Signing Day, which makes perfect sense in the world of college football.

Sure it would be nice to have a coordinator as soon as possible, but that just is not feasible at this time.

Once Signing Day comes around, if Stoops does not have somebody theoretically hired, the list of candidates is sure to open up.

No matter who is on that list, it seems logical that the new coordinator is going to run the spread.

While some Arizona fans are upset by Sonny Dykes' departure, the Wildcats are going to be just fine in the end.
