Signing Day has come to an end and here are the awards as we see them, strictly for the players that signed on Wednesday.
Best offensive player: Austin Hill. The Corona (Calif.) receiver is the complete package and do not be surprised if the coaching staff considers playing him sooner than later.
Hill is deceptively strong and is fast enough to beat his defender. There are numerous players that could have gotten this nod but once Hill is coached up we expect him to be one of the better receivers in the Pac-10.
Best defensive player: Kirifi Taula. The Servite (Calif.) defensive tackle is a complete monster and it is a wonder as to why he was not recruited more nationally.
Taula is another player that will have a chance to come in and play right away because he plays a position in which the UA is lacking depth.
Underrated: Dan Pettinato. The defensive end is a player that the UA coaches absolutely love. Pettinato is not going to be a major player right away, but he does have the frame to be on the field.
Once you figure that Pettinato will have a red shirt season and the coaches will be able to work on him, you realize that he has a good chance of being a major player down the road.
Pettinato's only offer was from Sacramento State and in four years there is a good chance that his lack of offers looks silly.
Most likely to be team captain: Josh Robbins. Robbins represents Tucson every time he takes the field and the safety definitely knows that.
Considering his dad played at Arizona and Robbins has plenty of family in town, there is a good chance that he is going to want to stand up and be a major part of this squad for the next four years.
Most likely to be hated: Mohammed Usman. Usman is going to hit opposing quarterbacks and hit them hard.
While he is a nice guy off the field, the JUCO defensive end is going to be a terror on it and opposing teams are not going to like him very much.
