Arizona knew it needed to play a near perfect game to defeat the UCLA Bruins on Tuesday night.
It didn't come close.
UCLA opened the game with an offensive barrage and Arizona never recovered, as it lose its final game of the postseason 15-9.
In the top of the first inning, Arizona pitched to Megan Langenfeld and she responded by hitting a two-run shot that gave the Bruins the quick 2-0 lead.
The second inning was basically the end of the game as Kenzie Fowler hit B.B. Bates with a pitch.
After making the correct decision in walking Langenfeld, Andrea Harrison made Sarah Akamine pay by hitting a grandslam to give the Bruins a 6-0 lead.
Arizona was never able to recover, but did cut the lead to 7-4 at one point when Kristen Arriola had a two-run single in the fourth.
Unfortunately, she made an error the next inning that eventually turned into a three-run homer by Julie Burney and more, as the inning ended with a 14-4 Bruin lead.
