Here are the top five players that we saw in Las Vegas. Obviously this was a difficult list to make and, in reality, it should have been a top ten list. However, there were five we were very impressed with and here they are:
1.Cameron Ridley:At 6-foot-11, 235-pounds Ridley is a force to be reckoned with. Somehow, a player of his size went under the radar a bit, but that definitely is not happening for long.
There might be more athletic or flashy players out there, but you would be hard pressed to find many more that are ready to play right now and still have a ton of potential.
2. Jahii Carson: It is amazing how much Carson has improved in the past year or so, starting with his ability to control the ball.
Many point guards in AAU try to do too much, but Carson recognizes his ability and never tends to over do it.
With his ability to stay in control and still find open teammates and points, there may not be many players in the country better than Carson.
3. Nick Johnson: This is one of the first times that we have seen Johnson consistently play defense and we are impressed.
Players taking charges in an AAU game is a very impressive thing and Johnson has no problem doing it.
We still question if he can handle the point on a nightly basis, although he does still have an ability to handle it sporadically if need be.
4. Shabazz Muhammad: Muhammad actually was not going to make this list because his opposition has almost completely focused on stopping him.
However, he must have realized that and dropped 52 points on Friday to remind everybody that he is still one of the best players in the country.
5. Isaiah Austin: Austin needs to recognize what he is good at and utilize it.
In other words, he drifts from the basket a bit too much and would be a dominant force in the paint if he allowed himself to.
