We were in attendance for Saturday's scrimmage and after having a day to reflect, here are our major thoughts regarding what we have seen.
1. Matt Scott deserves time: Yeah, yeah we know about last season. However, it seems that Frank Scelfo works more with quarterbacks than Sonny Dykes did and it is paying off.
Scott has talent and he has shown it when we have seen him in the preseason. The kid deserves another chance and we are guessing the coaching staff agrees.
2. Nic Grigsby may not be the best back
Keola Antolin continues to deserve praise and Greg Nwoko has impressed. Grigsby is the most talented back, but to be considered the best you have to play.
We still worry about his injuries and until he proves that he is healthy, it is hard not to believe that Antolin is not the best back on the team.
3. The defense will be the difference
That means it can be the difference, good or bad. If it plays well, the UA is a top 15 team in the country and, if not, it will struggle to make a bowl.
The offense is just fine and will always be solid, but the defense is a bit scary out there. It still has yet to prove it can consistently make stops, but a lot of that may have to do with the fact that Arizona's offense is very good.
Either way, Arizona is going to win or lose games based on what the defense does because the offense is going to be just fine out there.
