Freeze possesses "IT" Factor

Hugh Freeze has a winning attitude, a winning record as a head coach and you can easily say he has the "IT" Factor. Go "Inside" this story to get our thoughts on Freeze and what direction the ASU Football program is headed in.

Some coaches have it, some don't.

I'm talking about the "IT" factor. Someone who can light up a room with his charismatic ways, with his quiet confidence, his belief in himself and those around him.

I have known Arkansas State's new Head Football Coach Hugh Freeze for over six years now, he definitely has the "IT" factor.

Freeze is also a proven winner, a great recruiter and someone who parents and prospects truly believe in and trust beyond a doubt.

His down to earth demeanor, his southern drawl, and his genuine appearance works with parents and prospects alike.

It's no surprise to me that he already has four commitments at the first of July, in fact I'm a little surprise the number isn't a little higher.

He learned recruiting from some of the best in the business.

He spent three years as Ed Orgeron's right hand man in recruiting and Coach Freeze will be quick to tell you that Orgeron definitely knows how to recruit.

It's an aggressive pace that won't be matched by many, if any in the Sun Belt Conference.

It's often said in football that coaching is over rated. That it's the Billys and Joes that win the games for you. Look for Freeze and his coaching staff to definitely recruit better athletes and have success at recruiting that hasn't been seen at Arkansas State in some time.

It doesn't end there.

Freeze is one of the brightest minds in the game. He is a Guz Malazan type of offensive mind.

He also knows how to motivate. Expect his team to play harder than they have ever played before. He is the type of guy that most guys will run through walls for.

Freeze is also known as a teacher of the game. His players at Ole Miss were fundamentally sound at their position. More so than they were a year before he took over the position.

Don't forget that Freeze took over a Lambuth team that went 1-9 the year before and he took them to a winning record in his first year there. In his second season they were a national power.

While I won't guarantee the same results at Arkansas State, don't be surprised either if it happens.

He is already selling this to prospects and they appear to be listening. Several have said that Freeze is building something special at Arkansas State and they want to be a part of it.

This will be a better squad this season. They will play harder and they will win some games they aren't supposed to. If the Red Wolves offensive line gel and become an improved group over the summer, don't count out special things this season.

Dave Womack's defense is going to be better this fall than last year. Womack has proven over the years he can coach some defenses, and some pretty good ones at that.

Exciting times are coming to Jonesboro this fall, I believe it and so should you.
