Rison athlete Marquis Walker confirmed with AStateNation.com he definitely has interest in the Red Wolf Football program.
"I loved it there," Walker said. "That is the first school I attended camp at in the seventh grade. I'm very familiar with their campus and it feels like home."
Walker, a 6-foot-0, 185-pound athlete who runs the forty in 4.46 seconds, plays running back, defensive back, safety, wide receiver and kickoff returner for his high school team.
"I have a lot of interest in Arkansas State," Walker said. "Right now I don't have an early favorite."
Walker currently has offers from Memphis, UAPB and Arkansas State.
"I have been to UAPB a lot, it's just down the road from me," Walker said. "I plan on taking a visit to Memphis sometime this summer or early fall to check things out. I will definitely go back up to Arkansas State for another visit."
A couple things stood out to Walker about the new Red Wolves Coaching Staff.
"I like Coach (David) Gunn a lot," Walker said. "He is recruiting me for ASU. He is a good influence on a person."
He also likes the new Head Red Wolf Hugh Freeze.
"Coach Freeze is really great to talk to," Walker said. "They have a family bond with their coaching staff and with their team, it's pretty neat."
Another school that has peaked Walker's interest is the University of Tulsa.
"I went up there for an unofficial visit during one of their camps," Walker said. "I didn't perform, I just watched."
It appears that the Red Wolves are recruiting Walker as a corner for ASU.
