To win the big battles you have to compete in the big battles. No one as ever won the lottery without playing it.
While Arkansas State Head Coach Hugh Freeze may not have a lotto ticket in his hand, he understands the philosophy when it comes to recruiting for the Red Wolves.
n the past ASU might not offer a young man if he had interest from bigger schools, that's definitely not the case in his first season as head coach here in Jonesboro.
Harper, a linebacker from Montgomery Alabama attended camp in Jonesboro last month and throughly enjoyed his time at ASU.
"I really liked it a lot," Harper said. "I like the size of the town, it was a great atmosphere. A great looking stadium and a nice campus."
Harper had 90 tackles, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception at Jackson-Olin High School his junior season. He will play at Carver High School this fall. Harper is listed at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds and is reported to a 4.6 forty.
It appears that Harper was impressed with the Red Wolves Coaching Staff.
"I really like the coaches, they are all really friendly," Harper said. "Coach Freeze has a plan to win at Arkansas State, he feels he is building something special there. He seems like a regular person."
Harper hopes and plans on taking an official visit back to Jonesboro.
"I plan on taking an official visit to ASU," Harper said. "I'm wanting to visit Tennessee in the near future and during the season as well."
