One Mississippi offensive lineman got his first offer from a school up north from where he lives.

For Hattiesburg Oak Grove athlete Tony Holmes he was excited and happy about receiving his first offer from Arkansas State.

"I have one offer right now it's from Arkansas State," Holmes told AStateNation.com. "I didn't expect the offer, it felt pretty good."

While Holmes will admit he doesn't know a lot about Arkansas State he hopes to remedy that in the near future.

"I'm definitely planning on taking an official visit there," Holmes said. "I want to go up there and check things out."

Holmes, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive linemen is also hearing from Memphis, Mississippi State and Louisiana Tech.

Former Ole Miss player and coach Grant Heard, the Red Wolves Passing Game Coordinator is recruiting Holmes for Arkansas State.

"I call Coach Heard quite a bit," Holmes said. "He seems really nice, easy to talk to."
