One of the biggest concerns regarding the Red Wolf offense this year seems to be an inexperienced offensive line. Offensive line coach Darren Hiller updated AState Nation on the progress of the O-line.
Hiller is entering is his tenth season as the offensive line coach at Arkansas State and may be facing his toughest challenge yet.
With only two returning starters, Hiller will be looking to replace and improve an offensive line that allowed 24 sacks last season and was tied for third in the Sun Belt.
"We're a work in progress, says Hiller. "I feel good about our ability from a learning stand point, and I feel good about the guys who've been here."
Coach Hiller says they're seeing a lot from their defense, which he feels will better prepare them for the regular season.
"It's all just so fast," said Hiller, but he's confident the new guys will pick it up.
Coach Hiller reiterated that the depth chart will be "etched in sand and it's going to change."
Tom Castilaw is being held out due to a leg injury. He had told Hiller he could practice Thursday, but the trainers felt it best to hold him out for precautionary purposes. Look for Castilaw to be back soon to lead this O-line to success.
The projected starting 5 as of today are as followed:
LT- Delano Moore*
LG- Alex Kautai
C- Tom Castilaw*
RG- Jake Campbell
RT- Zack McKnight
