AStateNation.com caught up with Hewitt-Trussville High talented athlete John Youngblood Wednesday night to get his thoughts on the Red Wolves.
"They are definitely one of my top schools," Youngblood said. "They are a good program that is headed in a great direction with a new coaching staff."
Youngblood, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end, attended a summer camp in Jonesboro a couple of months a go and came away impressed with the Red Wolf Coaching staff.
"I really like their defensive line Coach Chris Kiffin," Youngblood said. "He has a lot of ties to the next level, he definitely knows how to coach the defensive line and knows what he is talking about."
"I'm coming up that weekend for sure," Youngblood said. "Both schools have offered me and I want to see how they do against one another."
Youngblood's season starts this Friday with a Jamboree and next week with the regular season opener.
"I'm really excited about Arkansas State," Youngblood said. "I can't wait to see what type of season they have this fall."
Youngblood also likes how the Arkansas State coaching staff has emphasized how important he is to their program.
"They definitely tell me how much they need me and that I'm one of their top targets on the defensive line," Youngblood said. "I really like them a lot and how they are recruiting me."
