Arkansas State Baseball team recently picked up a big commitment from a Mississippi athlete.

AStateNation.com confirmed that Marshall Academy athlete Kevin Fitzpatrick made his pledge to play college baseball for Coach Tommy Raffo.

"I'm very excited about being a Red Wolf Baseball Player," Fitzpatrick told ASN. "I took an official visit the weekend of the Memphis game."

It appears that Fitzpatrick was impressed with the game day experience at Arkansas State.

"I got to tailgate with the baseball team and the coaches," Fitzpatrick said. "It was a great experience."

Fitzpatrick, a 6-foot-180-pound athlete, plays short stop and center field for his high school team.

"Coach Raffo is recruiting me to play short stop," Fitzpatrick said. "I like what Coach Raffo is doing at Arkansas State."

In fact that impression of Coach Raffo led Fitzpatrick to his decision to play at Arkansas State University.

"He is such a good guy," Fitzpatrick said. "I talked to all the players, they all like him and respect him, he is definitely a player's coach."

Fitzpatrick is the fourth commitment so far this season for the Red Wolves Baseball team.

Fitzpatrick also plays quarterback for his Marshall Academy Football Team.
