A rainy day in Jonesboro, Arkansas Tuesday left Arkansas State University Head Football Coach in a cloudy mood.
Freeze, who is known for wanting the most out of his players at all times, was visibly upset about today's practice.
"Not very good at all," Freeze told AStateNation.com. "I thought when we first went out that our attitudes were good. The effort just wasn't there today."
The heavy rains at times probably didn't make for the most suitable workout situation.
"We can't use that for an excuse," Freeze said. "We have worked too hard and come too far not to play well these last two games. We can't let the weather dictate how we play. It may be raining on Saturday, we have to work through tough situations."
Arkansas State is off to its best start since the 1980's, Freeze isn't about to settle for being 8-2.
"Our goal is to win the Sun Belt Championship out right," Freeze said. "I know these guys they don't a share of the championship they want it all by themselves."
The Red Wolves will travel to Middle Tennessee this weekend, a place they haven't had a lot of success at in the past.
"We don't look at the past, it's all about our future here at Arkansas State," Freeze said. "This is a new team with a new attitude, we have to have a great week of work. Middle Tennessee is a very athletic team, someone we can't take for granted."
Freeze let his players know that he wasn't pleased with the overall effort during Tuesday's practice.
"I told them that I expect more out of them," Freeze explained. "These guys have a chance to accomplish something special here, we have to continue to do the things that got us to this point. That's hard work in every practice and believing in one another. I expect we will have a better practice on Wednesday."
Freeze announced Monday during his weekly press conference that running back Sirgregory Thornton will not return to action this season.
"He has some type of hernia," Freeze said. "We are hoping that he will be eligible for a medical red-shirt for this season."
Thornton has seen only limited action in three ballgames this season.
